Separating chart study from live decision time
Weekend chart study feels calm. Monday’s open does not. Structure the week so study never pretends to be execution practice.
Studying historical charts builds pattern recognition. It does not train the pulse response of a live fill. Analysts who only study often arrive at the open overconfident and under-rehearsed for hesitation.
Progressive Data Sys separates the week into study blocks and decision blocks. Study blocks allow annotation and debate. Decision blocks allow only the pre-written checklist: setup present, size fixed, invalidation marked, timer for first review.
Mixing the two — redrawing trendlines while a position is open — invites narrative rewriting. Keep a second screen or a printed sheet for the live checklist so the chart software is not also your therapy notebook.
Cohorts in Lamington practice this separation with short simulated opens. The goal is not more analysis; it is clearer boundaries between learning and acting.
